Always interested in photography, Tom’s career as a photographer started with covering Little League Baseball for a local newspaper, followed by a short time photographing weddings and portraits. Tom headed back to California for college and attended Brooks Institute of Photography to expand and refine his photographic knowledge. After graduating, he rode his bicycle from Mexico to Canada and settled in Western Washington with his wife, Vicky Spring, also a professional photographer. Together they have built a career of traveling and exploring that has taken them around the world.

The areas we went were gorgeous and full of opportunities, with room to spread out. It was obvious how much work Greg had put into scouting to ensure the group had maximum time at great locations. He developed a great itinerary and adapted it to meet the conditions. Both Greg and Tom were clearly VERY knowledgeable of the area. Greg was persistent and got us into the Fern Canyon which I really wanted to photograph. Would have loved to have had a great lupine pick, but you can't control Mother Nature. 🙂 Greg and Tom were fantastic! I would definitely go on another workshop with them and in fact, I am! 🙂 I'm so happy they will be the guides on the Olympic workshop next year!!! They make a great team. I know at least two others in this group were seriously considering signing up for the Olympic workshop, largely in part to how much they enjoyed and learned from Greg and Tom, I think that says a lot.
Both Greg and Tom were exceptional and very generous with their advice and instruction both in the field and in the classroom. They were an excellent team with complementary skills and perspectives. They made great efforts to provide instruction to each participant at her or his level and in many different contexts. Although I have attended quite a few workshops, I learned a great deal from both of them. Further, they are both truly nice and genuine people and it was a great pleasure to get to know them and spend this time with them. Yes, I am signed up for quite a few and this workshop only reinforced my appreciation for the approach you take. You have great planning and logistics, have found great locations, and all of the staff and leaders are excellent and provide great care for your clients. The leaders have all been excellent instructors, go out of their way to help all clients, are very conscious of safety, and just nice and fun people.
It was a terrific experience. Greg and Tom are very knowledgeable and patient. I learned a lot and plan to attend another workshop soon.
