Majestic Lakes and Mountain Landscapes

UPDATE: As of January 21, 2016 this workshop is sold out. We do it every year, so if you wish to be on the workshop for 2017, send us a note right away.

Join Marc Muench as he guides, leads and instructs in one of the planet's most beautiful places - Mount Assiniboine and The Canadian Rockies. We’ll photograph majestic mountain peaks in the sweet light, the brilliant colors of the larch trees and capture their reflections in the crystal clear lakes. We'll shoot sunrise, sunset and all day long. And after dinner, with clear skies, we're out again capturing the beauty of the night sky over this incredible backdrop.

This workshop will start and end in Calgary, Alberta. Meeting time will be 5pm on September 20th at our hotel in Calgary, and we will bring you back to Calgary at approximately 12noon on September 27th, 2016.

The Rockies are a Muench Passion!

Marc has a life-long love affair with the Rockies. In his book, co-written with his father David Muench, “The Rockies”, they put it best: “Enter into the wild and energetic landscape that is the Rocky Mountains, the most emphatic geology in North America. It is the center image of our continent — elevated to its full height. One is brought to a keen sense of the original and pristine earth, and nothing is as exhilarating as standing on or in front of its peaks at dawn or evening and witnessing the world’s slow, but persistent spinning in the universe.”

We would like to guide you to this kind of experience on this workshop.

I was so pleased to find the workshop turned out to be much more than I expected. Andy takes such great care of people. I noticed this on several occasions, where he was very diligent in meeting individuals needs, from photography to food and comfort! Marc was consistently kind, patient, and so easy going. Both men really shined, which is not easy to do with the dynamics of keeping tabs on a group and maintaining a schedule to give us optimal opportunities.

Itinerary

September 20, 2016: Fly to Calgary, arrive late afternoon. We'll stay overnight here at a convenient hotel to the airport. Group dinner this evening.

September 21, 2016: After breakfast, we'll drive to the helicopter pad outside of Canmore. We have a flight at approximately 1230pm, very short helicopter ride up to Assiniboine Lodge. Read the history of this amazing lodge in British Columbia.

September 21 - 25, 2016: we have 4 nights at Assiniboine Lodge. We'll shoot every day sunrise and sunset, with other shooting opportunities during the day. There will be options for day hikes if you like. At night, with clear skies, we'll shoot the night sky over Mt. Assiniboine! We will have image review sessions as time allows and we'll also be teaching some of our post-processing tips and techniques.

September 25 - 27, 2016: We'll fly down from Assiniboine Lodge after breakfast on the 25th , and then we'll begin shooting in other areas in the Canadian Rockies. We have numerous spots planned but we'll keep the itinerary flexible so we can do the right thing based on local conditions. We'll be based in Canmore at the Blackstone Mountain Lodge. Again, we'll make sure we're in the right spots for sunrise and sunset light! We will feature more image reviews, critique, and post-processing.
