Majestic Lakes and Mountain Landscapes
Join Andy Williams as he guides, leads, and instructs you in one of the planet’s most beautiful places—Mount Assiniboine and The Canadian Rockies. We’ll photograph majestic mountain peaks in the sweet light, the brilliant colors of the larch trees and capture their reflections in the crystal clear lakes. We’ll shoot sunrise, sunset, and all day long. And after dinner, with clear skies, we’re out again capturing the beauty of the night sky over this incredible backdrop. There will be a new moon, so we’ll have incredibly dark skies!
The Rockies are a Muench Passion!
We have a life-long love affair with the Rockies. In his book, co-written with his father David Muench, “The Rockies”, Marc and David Muench put it best: “Enter into the wild and energetic landscape that is the Rocky Mountains, the most emphatic geology in North America. It is the center image of our continent—elevated to its full height. One is brought to a keen sense of the original and pristine earth, and nothing is as exhilarating as standing on or in front of its peaks at dawn or evening and witnessing the world’s slow, but persistent spinning in the universe.”
We would like to guide you to this kind of experience on this workshop.

General Itinerary and Information
NOTE: This itinerary is subject to change based on accommodations availability, weather and other local conditions.
September 19, 2017: Fly to Calgary. You will then take a shuttle service (90 min) from Calgary Airport to Canmore, arriving at our hotel, Blackstone Lodge this afternoon. We will send information about the shuttle service. Workshop commences with a group dinner this evening.
September 20, 2017: After breakfast, we’ll take the beautiful drive to the helicopter pad outside of Canmore. We have a flight at approximately 12:30 pm, a very short helicopter ride (15 min) up to Assiniboine Lodge. You can read the history of this amazing lodge in British Columbia here.
September 20–24, 2017: We have four nights at Assiniboine Lodge. We’ll shoot every day sunrise and sunset, with other shooting opportunities during the day. There will be options for day hikes if you like. At night, with clear skies, we’ll shoot the night sky over Mt. Assiniboine. We will have image review sessions as time allows and we’ll also be teaching some of our post-processing tips and techniques.
September 24–26, 2017: We’ll fly down from Assiniboine Lodge after breakfast on the 24th, and then we’ll begin shooting in other areas in the Canadian Rockies. We have numerous spots planned but we’ll keep the itinerary flexible so we can do the right thing based on local conditions. We’ll be based in Canmore at the Blackstone Mountain Lodge. Again, we’ll make sure we’re in the right spots for sunrise and sunset light! We will feature more image reviews, critique, and post-processing.
September 26, 2017: After morning shoot and breakfast, we will drive you to Calgary airport. Flights home can be for anytime after 1:00 pm. If you need to be at the airport earlier this day, no problem, there is a regular shuttle service available.
