The Icelandic Highlands are full of unique sights and natural wonders. You’ll see braided rivers winding across mossy lava fields, old craters, and glacier-fed lakes that reflect the sky. From above, the patterns and scale of the landscape really stand out. The area is home to Vatnajökull—Europe’s largest glacier—plus active volcanoes, black sand deserts, and rugged basalt ridges. With all these varied features, it’s a great place for aerial photography that’s both abstract and tied to the landscape.
Access is everything. With a private super jeep to get to remote passes and dramatic terrain you’ll fly over waterfalls, basalt formations, shimmering lakes and wide alluvial plains that stretch to the sea. Bring your full kit. Some scenes are best from the air, others reward a grounded approach with a camera and tripod.
Instruction is personal and detailed. Our pros support four “guest pilots” at a time so you can focus on clear flight planning, safe operations and strong aerial compositions. We’ll help you get the most out of your drone’s camera, from exposure and technical techniques to aerial composition and subject separation. Image reviews and targeted post processing sessions will translate Iceland’s subtle tones and textures into clean, coherent images that will hold a strong position in your portfolio.
Throughout the workshop we combine real time coaching with focused practice in flight planning, drone safety, aerial composition, exposure bracketing and more. You’ll leave with stronger photographic instincts and long lasting skills in camera technique and post processing that will improve your photography well beyond the workshop.
Whether your focus is aerial graphic abstraction or grounded landscape storytelling this is a trip that will change how you see and how you photograph this most magical of lands.

This itinerary is subject to change due to weather, local conditions, and other factors.
Meet at our hotel in Reykjavik for dinner and review logistics for the week ahead.
We’ll stay at a hotel close to the landscapes we wish to photograph with our drones. We’ll be visiting locations specific to drone photography. Our priority will be to access areas with short flights to dramatic air views. Each location will offer a different view of the scenic Icelandic highlands filled with volcanic craters, braided rivers, and blue lakes surrounded by green moss. For the times when we’re not flying, either due to poor weather or limited air time, we’ll have access to transportation via super jeep and can photograph landscapes from the ground below the cloud level. Each day will include one-on-one image reviews of our captured images.
Our super jeep provides power outlets to charge drone batteries throughout the day.
Weather permitting, we’ll photograph the sunrise, then we’ll make our way out of the highlands to the South Coast, where we will change our landscape. This region of Iceland will provide a series of large river alluvials revealing more patterns in braided rivers, glaciers, and coastline with volcanic spires shooting up out of the ocean.
We’ll continue reviewing our images after each day of photography to learn from any mistakes and improve our piloting and camera skills.
We’ll start the day early with a location along the south coast, breakfast, and then a drive back to Reykjavik. We’ll check in to our hotel and enjoy a final dinner to celebrate all the fantastic images captured.
Flights home anytime.

This itinerary is designed for drone photography. We plan to make as many as 4-5 stops each day for photographic flights. You will be responsible for bringing enough drone batteries to fly for at least two hours daily. Typical drones fly for 30 minutes on each battery.
You should be capable of taking off, landing your drone manually, and flying simple flight plans to reach a designated location from the air. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced drone photographer, you will find the instruction tailored to your specific needs and desires.
We will follow all drone-specific regulations and laws based on Iceland regulations. We will be visiting regions that allow drones. Leaders will work with each participant to make a flight plan that does not cross with another participant's flight plan.
Easy: You must be able to do short walks around the super jeep to access drone flight locations.
Arrive Keflavík International Airport (KEF), Reykjavík, Iceland before 4:00 PM on August 19, 2026. Flights out can be made anytime on August 28, 2026. Air travel delays are common. Please arrive early, possibly even the day prior, so you don’t miss any of the workshop.
