Amazing Landscapes and Night Skies

Join us in Abiquiu New Mexico for three days of landscape and night photography. Under the cottonwoods along the Chama River is the quaint Abiquiu Inn, where we will be staying. Muench Workshops pro photographer Wayne Suggs will lead you to some of the most enchanting locations in the region and teach you many various landscape photography techniques. You will photograph the multi colored rock formations that are part of the Eastern end of the Colorado Plateau.  Learn to compose with the meandering Chama River highlighted by the famous New Mexico sunsets and starry skies. We have timed this class to take full advantage of September 24th, which will offer a great opportunity to capture the milky way and just the right amount of moonlight within one exposure to bring the landscape alive at night. This is the third night, allowing everyone to practice on the previous days and nights to be certain to have their techniques polished before the event.

There is no better time to be in Northern New Mexico than late September, where average highs are in the low 70s and the landscape is still at its peak from the recent monsoonal rains. Out in the field, to get the most out of this magical landscape, you will learn about composition and light as guided by Wayne.  We will spend time during the day in our private meeting room at the Abiquiu Inn post processing and having image reviews to realize the full potential of your New Mexico landscapes.

Itinerary

September 22, 2017: Meet and greet on the front veranda of the Abiquiu Inn at 4:00 PM. Dinner and evening shoot. Wayne and Thomas will take this time to review itinerary, logistical issues and review camera settings with individuals who want it. During this first evening, you will learn how to use low level lighting techniques to illuminate the foreground on a evening without the moonlight. This is a great way to create nighttime landscapes.

September 23, 2017: Early morning shoot followed by breakfast and image review. Our image reviews are a great way to learn how to better compose, with post processing techniques in mind, we will use Adobe Lightroom for these classes. Lunch and afternoon visit to red rocks region where we'll stay and photograph sunset. Dinner and possible evening shoot, based on weather. If the skies are clear, Wayne and Thomas will lead you to some great locations to capture the night ski with a bit of moonlight to help make the landscape come alive at night.

September 24, 2017: Early morning shoot along Chama River followed by breakfast and image review. Lunch and afternoon downtime prior to early dinner followed by sunset and possible star shoot. This is the best chance to capture the moonlit landscape with the Milky Way all in one exposure. Keep your fingers crossed for a clear night!

September 25, 2017: Final sunrise at a location TBD based on weather. Breakfast and goodbye.
