Photographing a supermoon is a magical experience. As it rises above the horizon—larger and brighter than usual—it glows in warm golden tones before shifting to a cool, silvery light as it climbs higher into the sky. It’s a breathtaking sight for stargazers, and an irresistible challenge for photographers.
During this workshop, you’ll learn how to capture the supermoon in all its luminous detail—its brightness, texture, and dramatic scale—especially when framed against the iconic New York City skyline. We’ll guide you to carefully scouted vantage points that offer striking compositions, including aerial perspectives and sweeping cityscapes.
In addition to the supermoon, we’ll photograph a stunning sunrise over the Statue of Liberty, explore the skyline at golden hour, sunset, and into the night, and visit the Jersey Shore for a peaceful beach sunrise session. You’ll also learn how to accurately plot moonrise locations so you can confidently plan future shots on your own.
Throughout the experience, you’ll receive hands-on guidance in the field and thoughtful image reviews focused on technique, composition, and post-processing—ensuring you leave with the skills and images to match this unforgettable celestial event.
This itinerary is subject to change due to weather, local conditions, and other factors.

We will meet at 2:00 PM at the hotel for a meet-and-greet and then leave to shoot a stunning, huge blue-hour supermoon rise over the Great Beds lighthouse in New Jersey.
We will be up early to shoot New York City before dawn. Then, we will photograph a huge sunrise over the crown of the Statue of Liberty. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll have our first image review.
We will have a late lunch, then shoot the sunset over the city and moonrise over the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges and get some epic night shots.
We will wake up early and head to the Jersey shore, where we will photograph the sunrise over a stunning fishing pier. We will have breakfast and then head back to the hotel.
After some downtime, we will have an image review to check exposure, focus, and composition while demonstrating post-processing techniques. We will then have a late lunch and head into Manhattan for a walk across the Manhattan Bridge, where we will have amazing views of downtown Manhattan and the FDR Drive. We will shoot the sunset from there, then wait for twilight and photograph car trails.
We will head to a local spot for pre-dawn and sunrise over the city, then head to breakfast. We will then have another image review. After some downtime, we will go to Brooklyn Bridge Park for sunset over the famous pylons. Then, we will head to various spots in the park to shoot the beautiful skyline at night.
