New Zealand: Landscape Paradise in Autumn
Join us for a ten day journey through one of the most beautiful places on the planet, New Zealand's South Island. This workshop presents an opportunity to photograph an extraordinary diversity of scenic landscapes: warm autumn colors against stunning glaciated mountains, seacoasts, lakes, alpine meadows, towering snow-capped peaks, lush green rainforests, waterfalls, and more. The workshop will begin and end in Christchurch. Our hotel is situated adjacent to the airport making it convenient for travel. We’ll begin our circular journey in Arthurs Pass National Park, where we’ll photograph the glaciated mountains and lakes around the Waimakariri River. We’ll then continue on around to the West Coast where we spend time photographing the highest mountain in New Zealand, Mount Cook. We’ll visit the beach and hopefully capture images of the glaciated peaks above the ocean. The next stop will be in the beautiful quaint town of Wanaka, where we’ll take a guided 4x4 drive up to remote private lands overlooking the Matukituki River valley. Weather permitting we’ll be taken by helicopter up to the glaciers where everyone can capture images of Mount Aspiring from the ice. After 2 nights in Wanaka we venture a few more hours around the to the Mackenzie Basin and Aoraki-Mount Cook National Park where we spend our final 3 nights on the east side of the mountain to explore the amazing lakes and rivers, colored by the glaciers. Weather permitting, we’ll have a opportunity to fly helicopters with the doors off, to capture images of the Mount Cook in early sunrise light, and amazing braided rivers of the Tasman and Godley Rivers. This is a very spectacular flight guaranteed to blow you away. We will then return to Christchurch for flights out.
This workshop is for any level of photographer, and non-photographing significant others are welcome! There are no strenuous hikes or climbs on this workshop, but you should be able to walk a mile comfortably, and carry your photography gear.
