Glaciated Mountains, Waterfalls, Rugged Coastlines, and Rainforests

July 22 – 28, 2024

The Olympic Peninsula takes all of the best natural features the Pacific Northwest offers—snow-covered mountains, lush rainforests, rugged coastlines, and beautiful waterfalls—and concentrates them into one region. This workshop is designed to optimize photography opportunities in this unique corner of Washington. We’ll be staying at the best accommodation closest to each shooting location—limestone sea stacks at Rialto Beach, the verdant greenery of the Hoh Rainforest, and the colorful wildflowers along Hurricane Ridge.

Plan on bringing a wide variety of lenses to capture the rich array of subjects, from intimate details of the rainforest to vast mountain vistas. You’ll also want to bring neutral density filters, as we’ll be creating evocative long exposures in low light and in the middle of the day. We’ve planned this workshop to coincide with the wildflower season in the alpine regions and the best time of year for clear skies and coastal sunsets. Regardless of the weather, though, there is always something to photograph! We’ll be working by day and into the night.

Your workshop pros will help you optimize your compositions and process your images. There will also be ample time for one-on-one and group image reviews.

Experience another nearby national park by following this trip with our Mt. Rainier National Park workshop.
