Dramatic Coastline, Sea Stacks, and Sand Dunes

Oregon boasts one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world with rugged headlands, sandy beaches, hidden coves, majestic sea stacks, and rolling sand dunes. On the southern Oregon coast, forest meets the sea, and small harbor towns with histories of logging and fishing now offer accommodation for visitors without giving up their local charm.

Join Muench Workshops pros Greg Vaughn and Richard Bernabe to capture the magic and mystery of this diverse and very photogenic landscape. Our May workshop is scheduled for prime conditions on the sandy beaches and the best time of year for spectacular sunsets.

You will learn how to capture the movement of ocean waves in various forms, use neutral density filters to compose dreamy long exposure photography, and how to make compelling compositions. We will spend time exploring driftwood-strewn beaches, rocky shores, picturesque lighthouses, and little-known coves with dramatic sea stacks. Pack your rubber boots or NEOS overshoes for crossing creeks, standing in the swirling surf, and capturing the beautiful marine life in tide pools.

As always, we’ve reserved plenty of time for our signature image reviews and post-processing instruction. You’ll learn new methods of improving the images you capture and how to express your personal vision better.

No matter your expertise in photography, this workshop will take your photography to the next level. Connect with nature and have a great time with leaders that are dedicated to giving you an outstanding experience.

Greg Vaughn is a terrific photographer, an outstanding teacher, and a superlative guide. Greg always ‘knows the territory.’ It doesn’t matter if he ‘wrote the book’ for an area, as he did for both Oregon and Washington— by the way his books are easily the best in class— or if he is going to a location for the first time. In either case, you can rest assured that he will be totally prepared in every way. When I’m with Greg, I always have a great time, I always learn a lot about the craft of getting a great image— and I always come away with images I treasure. He is the quintessential pro.
