Explore the wild San Juan River and Ancient Rock Art
Spend 5 days floating down the wild San Juan River where you will encounter ancient rock art, wild Big Horn Sheep and amazing scenery all in the hands of the best river guides in the west, Canyon RIO. This itinerary is designed to leave plenty of time to explore each camp where you will be given instruction and guidance on landscape photography by Andy Williams, Thomas O'Brien, and Michael Strickland. They will instruct you on how to capture these beautiful locations in the light of a very full moon, so be prepared to explore and have fun out under the stars all while enjoying the convenience of a full camp with great hot food and cold drinks.
July 8–15, 2017
Itinerary and General Information
July 8, 2017: Meet up in Bluff Utah at the Recapture Lodge for orientation dinner.
July 9, 2017: Breakfast and drive to Sand Island for loading and boarding of rafts. Float to first camp.
July 10 - 14: Life on the river will be simple and extremely beautiful as there will be plenty of time to explore the side canyons and find all the unique locations. All food will be prepared by our amazing camp chefs, and water and juice is provided. At each camp, we'll set up our tents, or simply sleep under the stars on a provided air pad. We will be visiting such places as the Anasazi River House, Butler Wash, Chinle and many more, including searching for the wild Big Horn Sheep.
July 14, 2017: By 11:00 am we'll leave the rafts and river and be driven back to the town of Bluff for a hot shower and night of fun.
July 15, 2017: Breakfast and goodbyes, workshop concludes at approximately 8:30 am.
