Snowy Owls: Exclusive Access to These Birds of Prey
Join Juan Pons in beautiful rural Ontario, Canada to shoot the amazing Snow Owls. We have exclusive access to some of the best areas, and local guides that will bring us right to where the owls are, and we will get you in position to get beautiful wildlife imagery. Juan will instruct both in the classroom and in the field on best practices for wildlife photography, catching the birds in flight, and more. We'll feature image reviews and critiques, as well as post-processing instruction in Lightroom. Everything is included in this workshop, all meals, transportation, transfers, lodging and of course, photo instruction!
You will be captivated by the snowy owls' mesmerizing yellow eyes and witness the stealth flight and the subsequent attack on the unsuspecting voles and rodents they feed upon. We will get you close enough so that you can shoot with lenses from a 70-200mm to fill the entire frame upon attack of their target, to as long as a 500mm telephoto to capture the acrobatic turns and wing action while in flight.
This workshop is designed to give you great opportunities to photograph the owls on properties not accessible to the general public. We will take you to the locations away from the local birders and photographers that line the side of the roads, looking from afar, and assist you with exposure, compensation, metering, focus tracking and more. Snowy owl photography is one of the most challenging conditions you may face, cold winds, blowing snow with a white subject, but we will make sure you are ready.

The workshop begins with a welcome welcome dinner and a classroom session featuring owl images, and we'll talk about techniques and preparedness for shooting these birds of prey.
Days 2-6 - February 13-17, 2017: Our days generally begin at 7am, when we head out to a variety of exclusive areas where we expect the owls to be. We will spend each morning shooting as much as we can! Of course the focus is on Snowys but we may get lucky and find some Barred Owls or other birds. We will take a midday break for lunch at a local restaurant, and prepare for our afternoon shoot, which can be a repeat of the morning if the owls were cooperative, or we may go to one of our many other locations. At the end of a long day, we head back to our hotel for some rest, dinner and critiques, working on images, and post-processing instruction.
