Stunning Landscapes of the South of France and Beautiful Horses of Camargue

May 16–25, 2023

The South of France offers stunning panoramic photography of unique fields, ancient structures, and wildflowers that paint the landscapes. In Saintes Maries de la Mer we will photograph portraits and the Gypsy festival. But we will start our trip with some of the most exciting action photography on the planet—the Camargue horses with help from the cowboys of the Camargue known as “gardians.” Armed with their traditional lance, the gardians will help us take pictures of these white horses and bulls as they run in the swamps and the salt pools of the Camargue.

We’ve crafted our itinerary to comfortably cover the best areas we know in this stunning area of the world, and to provide the greatest diversity of photo opportunities. Our accommodations are among the best and most comfortable available, and everything is all-inclusive, including gratuities for our excellent English-speaking local guides.

Expect to be challenged and to learn a lot in this workshop. We will be right beside you in the field, and later in the classroom for Lightroom post-processing instruction. We’ll also have our signature image critiques.

May 18–19, 2023: Over these two days we will take you on various Camargue horses and bulls running in the Marsh over the course of two days. You will be photographing these horses and Bulls as they run and play in Marshes, and on the beach. Between the photography sessions, we will spend time going through your images to help you create better images each time we visit the ranches.

Tonight you will be treated to photographing the beautiful city of Gordes by night.

May 21, 2023: Today you are in for a treat. Your day will start with welcome coffee with homemade cakes and an introduction to the menu you will be made by our trained chef. We will then join our chef at a local market where we will learn how to choose the ingredients. You’ll also be able to take photos at the local market before we return to the kitchen where you will be taught the art of French cooking. We will then share your preparations around the table with our chef and his wife, enjoying our scenic Provencal environment overlooking the Luberon mountains.

After we finish our meal we will head out to the Luberon valley to capture a sunset over one of the local poppy fields.

May 22–23, 2023: Over the course of two days we will visit many of the locations that will see you photographing early mornings, and late in the day as the skies turn a complimentary color to the amazing landscapes that encompass old stone structures that dot the South of France fields.

— Chellie Hyre, Svalbard '16

“This is where the workshop shone for me. This was my first Muench trip although I've attended other workshops. Sometimes, instructors teach in the classroom and during critiques, but only toss out tips in the field. With students having varying degrees of knowledge they seem to settle somewhere in the middle for instruction. This wasn't the case with Kevin. He met people where they were with their photography skills. He was polite, tactful and very perceptive about coaching us where we needed help. ”
