Reverse Manhattanhenge is one of New York City’s coolest events. As the sun rises and aligns with Manhattan’s street grid, it creates a beautiful ribbon of light between the skyscrapers, illuminating the city in a warm, golden glow.
Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson popularized Manhattanhenge, the alignment of the setting sun with Manhattan’s street grid. Its lesser known cousin, often called “Reverse Manhattanhenge,” is the sunrise alignment — a rare and fun opportunity for photographers to get unique cityscape shots.
This workshop will put you in the right place at the right time to capture the spectacle at its best. We’ll guide you to the best vantage points and provide hands-on support with camera settings, composition and creative techniques to help you make the most of the moment. With a small group size, you’ll get personalized instruction and feedback throughout.
In addition to Reverse Manhattanhenge, you’ll shoot other golden-hour locations around the city including the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Gantry Park in Queens, for a variety of cityscape shots.
From composition to post-processing, this workshop combines celestial beauty, urban energy and expert instruction into a one-of-a-kind New York City experience.
