Let’s go chase waterfalls! This 3-day adventure is a skill-intensive workshop designed to help you master the art of long exposure. The Blue Ridge mountains are a waterfall paradise ideal for creating stunning photos and learning new skills.
The waterfalls selected for this workshop were hand-picked to provide the most learning opportunities and various compositional options for creating unique and powerful images. Techniques taught during this skill-intensive masterclass will range from long-exposure fundamentals to using filters to advanced techniques in the field and post-processing. After our trip, you will have stunning photographs and new advanced skills that you can carry with you into your future adventures.

June 28, 2024: For those who are flying to Asheville, arrive by 12:00 PM and we will depart by 1:00 PM to drive to our hotel. Otherwise, arrive at our hotel by 3:00 PM for check-in and a quick orientation, after which we will head to our first photo destination – Dry Falls. This popular and easily accessible waterfall is the perfect place to establish a foundation for the techniques and skills we will use for the remainder of the weekend.
June 29, 2024: Our morning will begin early with an enjoyable and easy hike to Station Cove Falls. This waterfall packs a punch in terms of its variety of compositions. Afterward, we will have a photo review and editing session before our afternoon outing to the stunning Brasstown Waterfall series.
June 30, 2024: Our final morning will begin with a beautiful hike to King Creek Falls. This waterfall is a true hidden gem and is always a photographic favorite where you can apply all the skills learned so far. After our hike, we will pack in a final photo review session before ending the workshop around 11:00 AM. If you’re flying, flights out can depart after 2:00 PM.
Moderate: Hiking average 3 miles/day. Rough, uneven, steep terrain. Good balance and fitness are required.
Arrive Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), Asheville, North Carolina before 12:00 PM on June 28, 2024. Flights out can be made after 2:00 PM on June 30, 2024. Air travel delays are common. Please arrive early, possibly even the day prior, so you don’t miss any of the workshop.
