Dramatic Coastline and Fields of Green on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way and Causeway Coast

August 30 – September 7, 2024

Join us as we explore the rugged beauty of Ireland’s northwest and Causeway Coast. We’ll photograph breathtaking locations and hidden gems in County Donegal & the Antrim Coast.

Steeped in drama, the north coast of Ireland offers many photographic subjects: lighthouses, sea arches, sea stacks, winding roads, secluded golden beaches, romantic castles, mountain vistas, and locations made famous by the popular HBO TV series Game of Thrones!

Our itinerary includes four nights in Donegal, surrounded by lakes and mountains with spectacular views of Donegal’s famous Errigal Mountain and close to the beautiful Poison Glen. From there, we will travel east along the north coast and spend three nights by the sea in the heart of the infamous Causeway Coast. We will spend our final night on the North Dublin coast, close to the beautiful fishing village of Howth, just 15 minutes from Dublin Airport. Throughout the workshop, you’ll rest well in beautiful hotels while being close to all the action.

The varied landscape offers a wide variety of photographic opportunities. Perfect your skills by using polarizing and neutral density filters, capturing sweeping landscapes and the local culture. We’ll instruct on all these techniques and then see how you put them into practice during our signature image review sessions. We’ll explore Lightroom’s technical and creative options as we review your images and demonstrate key photo-processing concepts.

With three pro photographers, you’ll get plenty of instruction in the field on technical and creative issues. Our local Irish guide and professional photographer will use his extensive knowledge of Ireland, the weather, and how light reacts to the landscape to ensure you are always in the right place at the right time. We believe this is the perfect recipe to guarantee you return home with photographs, experiences, and memories to last a lifetime.

The conditions at this time of year can be pleasant, but they don’t call it the Wild Atlantic Way for nothing!! Rain, hail, or shine, at the end of each day, you can unwind with a pint of the black stuff and relive the adventures of the days shooting with your comrades.

Join us on the Wild Atlantic Way!

Itinerary

This itinerary is subject to change due to weather, local conditions, and other factors.

August 30, 2024: Arrive this day at Dublin Airport, Ireland, by 11:00 AM. We will meet you at the airport to transfer you to our Donegal hotel. We’ll have a short introduction, dinner, and then photograph the sunset.

August 30 – September 3, 2024: There is so much to photograph during our four days in Donegal. Its famous lighthouses are perched in places out of a dream. The beaches and their beauty will take your breath away, and its rugged cliffs, sea arches, and stacks will leave you speechless. Plus, there are the mountains, lakes, shipwrecks, and castles!

September 3–6, 2024: The Causeway Coast needs no introduction, but here it is anyway! Let’s start with the Giants Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; its 40,000 interlocking basalt columns and countless compositions are a photographer’s dream. The Causeway Coast boasts cliff tops, sea stacks, bothies, a rope bridge, and a dramatic landscape. It’s easy to see why HBO opted to film Game of Thrones here, making the likes of Ballintoy Harbour, DunlCastle, and The Dark Hedges world famous.

September 6–7, 2024: The adventure doesn’t end just yet. We will spend our final night in North Dublin by the sea. When we arrive at our hotel, we will check in to our hotel, get dinner, and get set for one last sunset shoot at the lighthouse in the charming fishing village of Howth.

September 7, 2024: We will drop you off at the airport for your flight home, which can be any time after 1:00 PM.

Testimonials

“Your customer service is the best we have ever experienced with any photography travel/adventure company we have done business with bar none. We have done business with several well known companies, but you're the best. You made us feel like we meant something to your company not just another paying customer. I can't express enough how impressed I am with the gift package you sent us before the trip, the personal phone calls to make sure were good to go, the Whatsapp communications, and the interaction during the adventure. My feeling is that you put the customer first and that is important to the organization. I wish other businesses had that philosophy. Thank you for an adventure that created life long memories for us, I will be talking about this trip for years to come. ”

— Brent Wright, Scotland '19

“This was my fourth trip with Muench Workshops and my second to Scotland. The workshop to the Isle of Lewis & Harris was simply wonderful! Eishken Estate, our home on the island was charming and gave us a glimpse of a bygone age. The food was excellent! But most importantly the photographic opportunities were outstanding as were David, Marcus, and Harry. ”

— Kerrin Lahr, Scotland Isle of Lewis and Harris '22

“Words literally cannot come close to describing the experience Bernard strives to provide for his clients. I've been on several of his tours over the years and he's aging like a fine wine. While his ability to always provide amazing locations to shoot in the right conditions seems almost clairvoyant-like, it is most certainly down to his boundless energy and willingness to go above and beyond for his clients. His greatest asset by far, however, is his ability to help create a comfortable environment for complete strangers to all feel welcome in and create memories together in. Thanks again Bernard for an amazing trip. You always over deliver and I can't wait for the next one! ”
