Waterfall Photography in North Carolina's Majestic Blue Ridge Mountains

June 15 – 19, 2025

The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to an astonishing number of waterfalls, but the ones in the southern part of the range are beyond comparison. During this workshop, we’ll explore some iconic locations and hidden gems at the height of the wildflower bloom when the rhododendrons, mountain laurels, and ferns are at the peak of their glory.

We will be based out of the quaint mountain town of Highlands, North Carolina, which grants us central access to the surrounding region while offering vibrant local culture and cuisine. This is a truly immersive workshop. We will get up close and personal with many of these waterfalls to create powerful compositions while also focusing on the small details to reveal the location’s unique character. Be sure to bring your filters because we’ll be practicing our long-exposure skills to create silky-smooth images of the waterfalls. All of these skills from the field will come together in the classroom when we cover the special editing techniques that go into creating a masterful waterfall image.

After lunch, we will explore some lesser-known waterfalls nestled among the rhododendron thickets along the mighty Chattooga River.

June 17, 2025: We will start our morning with a brisk but worthwhile hike to an impressive waterfall. Bring your water shoes because you’ll want to get up close and personal with this beauty! So impressed with Talor's ability to demonstrate Lightroom techniques. She spoke for a content-rich hour and a quarter without an "um" or "ya know". ”
