COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS AND WORKSHOP TRAVEL

Mountains, Waterfalls, Rugged Coastlines, and Rainforests

July 24–30, 2023

The Olympic Peninsula takes all of the best natural features the Pacific Northwest offers—snow-covered mountains, lush rainforests, rugged coastlines, and beautiful waterfalls—and concentrates them into one region. This workshop is designed to optimize the photography opportunities in this special corner of Washington. We’ll be staying at the best accommodation, closest to each shooting location—limestone sea stacks at Rialto Beach, the verdant greenery of the Hoh Rainforest, and the colorful wildflowers along Hurricane Ridge.

Plan on bringing a wide variety of lenses to capture the rich array of subjects, from intimate details of the rainforest to vast mountain vistas. You’ll also want to bring neutral density filters, as we’ll be creating evocative long exposures, both in low light and in the middle of the day. We’ve planned this workshop to coincide with wildflower season in the alpine regions, and the best time of year for clear, coastal sunsets. Regardless of the weather, though, there is always something to photograph! We’ll be working by day, and into the night.

Our experienced pros will share with you their unique vision and techniques, helping you optimize your compositions and process your images. There will also be ample time for one-on-one image reviews and group critiques.

This workshop can be followed by our Mt. Rainier National Park workshop.

Testimonials

“Greg was tireless in his efforts to be with us wandering all over the landscape, suggesting composition alternatives, camera settings for different effects, locations to try. He also provided lots of interesting historical and geographical background for the areas we were in. ”

— Mark Hendricks, Oregon Coast '17

“The workshop was excellent. Tom and Greg planned out the various stops and kept the group moving in a way that let us have time to photograph but also to maximize the various opportunities that the parks provided. Instruction from both Tom and Greg was both informative and relevant and was presented in each gent's unique manner. They each made the trip both instructional and fun and I would not hesitate to enroll in another workshop led by either or both of them ”
